The BTD-1 is a standalone thunderstorm warning system engineered to detect lightning activity and determine the range of lightning flashes by continuously monitoring the background quasi-electrostatic field. Along with lightning detection, the system provides early warning of overhead thunderstorm conditions and features a Severe Storm function that helps identify storm cells with a higher potential for producing hazardous weather events such as large hailstones.
